Well, I have to agree with Andrew Tate and his blog Creativity from Chaos (https://designschool.canva.com/blog/creative-desks/, 2016). I have never had a tidy work space but I have had the best intentions. I remember coming to work one day when I was on Groote Eylandt and Mel had lovingly cleaned my desk! AAAgh! thank you Mel.
When everything is at your fingertips and in your direct sight, it makes the creative process flow that much easier. You see something out the corner of your eye and a little pop goes off in your head...ooh that will work there...nice...
Every now and then I have a little moment of putting everything in boxes and drawers but then I open everything up and pull it all out again.
Many sewer suffer from the same illness I do, OCFS Obsessive Compulsive Fabric Shopping. My friend Kylee has OCYS (Obsessive Compulsive Yarn Shopping). We can't help it, we need to purchase and who can go past a sale! You just never know when you will think of something fabulous for that piece of material.
You collect it, open up each piece, admire, fold back up and place back into pile, repeat. And then you think of something to make and realise you actually don't have the right material in your collection so you have to go shopping for it.
